The Rogosin Institute

The Rogosin Institute Transplantation Center

The ideal treatment for patients with chronic renal failure (stages 4 through 6) is kidney transplantation, which offers patients an independent life that is free from dialysis. Our transplant team of physicians, social workers and nurses provides an excellent continuum of care for our kidney transplant patients as well as their kidney donors, from surgery evaluations to follow-up after the surgery.

The Rogosin Institute program began in 1963 and was the first transplant program in New York. Since then, we have performed more than 3500 transplants with results that have exceeded national outcomes.

Transplantation Update 2010

A Reputation for Excellence

Important aspects of the Rogosin Institute Transplant Center include:

  • Less waiting time. Our patients’ waiting time for kidney transplants has decreased and is among the lowest reported in the region.
  • Reputation for excellence.  Rogosin’s reputation for excellence, innovation and high quality care is well known among physicians who refer patients to us and among patients who specifically come to receive their care in our program.
  • Close scientific, medical and surgical collaboration.  The close relationship between the Departments of Surgery and Urology at the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and our nephrologists, who are all also members of the Department of Medicine, and the Department of Transplantation and Extracorporeal Therapy, results in unsurpassed patient care.

Our transplant program is among the best in the nation.  Our kidney survival rates are higher than expected for our patient population and the best in New York.
