The Rogosin Institute

High Cholesterol

Areas Of Expertise

The Rogosin Institute is an independent not-for-profit treatment and research center that has been providing care to patients for over five decades. The Institute is a pioneer of innovative treatments and patient care, beginning with the first hemodialysis in the metropolitan New York area in the late 1950s and the first kidney transplant in New York City in 1963. Following continued growth of the kidney disease program, Rogosin has expanded its treatment and research capabilities to include the areas of cardiovascular disease related to high cholesterol and other lipid problems, diabetes, hypertension and cancer.

  Kidney Disease

The Rogosin Institute Kidney Center has a long and outstanding record of quality care, having pioneered kidney dialysis in 1956 and kidney transplantation in 1963. Today, Rogosin is the most comprehensive not-for-profit facility for the treatment of kidney diseases from all causes and in all stages. Physicians who are experts in treating hypertension, diabetes and polycystic kidney disease are available so that patients with all complications are well managed. In addition, Rogosin's nephrologists are involved in clinical trials aimed at preventing the progression of kidney disease to end stage. Learn More »

  Dialysis

In 1956, The Rogosin Institute performed the first dialysis for the treatment of end stage kidney disease in the New York City area. Since then, Rogosin has grown to supervising around 80,000 dialyses each year. In addition to traditional hemodialysis, we offer our patients a number of options, including peritoneal dialysis and home nocturnal hemodialysis. Learn More »

  Transplants

The Rogosin Institute program began with the first living kidney transplant in the New York area in1963, followed by the first deceased donor transplant in the state of New York in 1965. At present, we have performed more than 3000 transplantations with results that have exceeded national outcomes. Learn More »

  Cholesterol/Lipid Disorders

The Rogosin Institute Comprehensive Lipid Control Center's (CLCC) work in lipid control began in the early 1980s when we pioneered clinical research of LDL-apheresis. LDL apheresis is a procedure that takes blood outside the body to remove the LDL-cholesterol, the major cholesterol carrying lipoprotein in your blood. In addition to LDL-apheresis, the CLCC provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for adults and children with high cholesterol and triglyceride disorders. These conditions can lead to narrowing of the arteries (atherosclerosis) that increases the chance of having a heart attack or stroke or cause pancreatitis. Learn More »

  Hypertension

Hypertension is a leading cause of kidney disease. As a result, physicians and researchers at The Rogosin Institute are committed to finding innovative ways to treat or prevent hypertension. Hypertension is also a characteristic symptom of polycystic kidney disease. Rogosin has the only research and treatment center in the northeast dedicated to patients with polycystic kidney disease.
