Did you know?

According to the US Department of Health and Human Services

  • 124,000 people are waiting for an organ (101,653 for a kidney)
  • Nearly 3,000 people are added to the kidney waiting list every month. On average, that is 1 person every 14 minutes.
  • A healthy person can also become a "living donor" by donating a kidney, or part of the liver, lung, intestine, bone or bone marrow. About 5,000 living donations occur every year.

Registering as an organ donor will improve these statistics by lowering the number of people waiting for an organ.

As a registered organ donor, your donation has the potential to save or improve many lives.  One donor can provide kidneys, pancreas, liver, lungs, heart, intestinal organs and tissues including corneas, skin, veins, heart valves, tendons, ligaments and bones.

Registration is simple.  You can either register when you apply for or renew or drivers license or do so online at www.organdonor.gov
