The Rogosin Insitute received a
$750,000 challenge grant from Board
member, William Macaulay and his wife
Linda, to be used to build a new dialysis
center in Queens, NY.
We are pleased to report that the challenge
of raising $750,000 has been met
thanks to the extraordinary dedication of
our many friends.
The new center will be located in
Auburndale, Queens and will cost $3.5
million to build. When completed in
December 2010, the center will have the
capability to perform 35,000 dialysis
treatments per year and care for over 230
patients. This center will also provide
screening for kidney transplantation for
the patients. With the prevalence of
chronic kidney disease rising rapidly all
across America, the Center will fill animportant need for individuals with
these healthcare needs in Queens and
Western Nassau county. Its launching is
an integral part of Rogosin’s commitment
to providing the best in kidney care
for all New Yorkers.
“We are deeply grateful that the
Macaulays have given us this generous
grant that will expand kidney care services
in New York,” said Barry Smith, MD,
Director of the Rogosin Institute. “As a
leader in the treatment of kidney disease,
we know there is a great need for education,
treatment and prevention programs
throughout the New York metropolitan
area and this facility will help us meet
that need. The provision of such service
is the core mission of The Institute.”
