Cholesterol/Lipid Disorders

Rhoda

Familial Hypercholesterolemia

Rhoda has familial hypercholesterolemia, which means that her body produces a very high level of cholesterol. After trying diet, exercise, medication and even angioplasties, Rhoda's doctor felt he had exhausted her options. Then he learned about The Rogosin Institute's Comprehensive Lipid Control Program, which pioneered the use of LDL-apheresis to treat the condition. Rhoda, who was experiencing increasing pain and weakness, tried LDL-apheresis. As a result of the treatment, which she receives every few weeks, she has resumed the active lifestyle she thought she might never have again.

He was evaluated by Rogosin's pediatric lipid expert, Dr. Lisa Hudgins who recommended exercise and changes in his diet. By following the program that was designed for him at Rogosin, Ze'ev's cholesterol levels are now normal.
